LOUISVILLE, Ky.– The New Mexico State softball team was named a Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Academic Team the organization announced on Wednesday. Additionally, four Aggies received Easton/NFCA Scholar Athlete recognition.

Victoria Castro, Stefani Duran, Rachel Rodriguez and Caity Szczesny earned the academic accolade after posting impressive grade-point averages during the 2017-18 season. Not only were Castro and Rodriguez recognized for their academic accomplishments following the banner season in 2018, the duo received All-WAC honors and Rodriguez was named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Tournament team.

The four Aggies were among 1.311 individual NCAA Division I honorees who earned a 3.5 GPA or higher. The New Mexico State squad was among 107 NCAA Division I programs recognized for its accomplishments in the classroom.
