Salas Earns Player of the Week Honors

Senior Brooke Salas earned WAC Player of the Week honors after averaging 22.0 points in first two games.

DENVER – New Mexico State senior guard Brooke Salas was named Western Athletic Conference player of the week after posting a pair of 22 point games on 66.7% shooting in Aggie wins last week, the conference announced Monday.
 
The reigning WAC Player of the Year scored 22 points with six rebounds in a 70-38 win over UT Permian Basin in the season-opener at home. She also dished out two assists and recorded five steals.
 
Against Western Michigan, Salas dropped 22, all in the second-half, to propel the Aggies to a 66-54 comeback victory on the road. She also pulled down six rebounds against the Broncos. Salas moved into 12th on the NM State all-time scoring list and now sits at 1,346 points.
 
NM State women's basketball stays on the road as they travel to El Paso to take on Battle of I 10 rival UTEP on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 1 p.m. (MT) before returning to the Pan American Center for a game against Abilene Christian on Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m.
