LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Back on the win column, the New Mexico State women's tennis team takes the road for a pair of matches in the state of Texas against Houston and Sam Houston State this weekend.

The Aggies first take on an undefeated Houston Cougar team that have won seven-straight to open the dual season. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. (MT) at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility. UH has only allowed one point to opposing teams in all but one match this season when it pulled away from Nevada 4-3 on a neutral court. The Cougars also notched a win against Arizona that weekend on the road.

Houston is led by Tsveta Dimitrova, who owns a 16-5 overall record in singles play and 6-1 mark in dual action. Sveva Mazzari, Lauren Alater, Constande Nicolaou occupy the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles positions, respectively, and are all undefeated in dual play at 7-0. However, Alter has 12 wins overall and while Mazzari and Nicolauo have 11 wins to their name.

UH's top doubles pair of Dimitrova and Mazzari lead the team with an 8-3 overall mark on the year and 4-1 in dual action, but it is the No. 2 doubles pair of Alter and Alison Mills that are 5-1 in dual play.

New Mexico State then travels to Huntsville, Texas, for an 11 a.m. match against Sam House State on Saturday, Feb. 17, at the Walden Tennis Center. The Bearkats are 3-2 so far on the season with its losses coming to Texas A&M (5-2) and Houston (6-1) – who the Aggies will play the day before.
