HUNTSVILLE, Texas – New Mexico State women's tennis fell 6-0 to Sam Houston State on Saturday, Feb. 17, at the McAdams Tennis Center to finish off its weekend in the Lone Star State.

The Aggies fell behind early after conceding the doubles point to the Bearkats.
Rebecca Keijzerwaard and freshman Quinty Jansen were the first to fall, dropping their match 6-2 on court No. 3. Shortly thereafter,
Lindsay Harlas and
Yadira Rubio fell 7-5 in a hard-fought battle at No. 1 doubles.

The Aggies' deficit grew to 3-0 after
Eli Arnaudova and
Vanessa Valdez fell at the No. 6 and No. 1 spots, respectively. The Bearkats' Lusine Chobanyan clinched the victory over NM State with a 6-2, 7-5 over freshman
Helena Colvee.

Keijzerwaard, at the No. 2 spot, gave SHSU's Khee Yen Wee a fight on court No. 2 but had their match halted after the match was clinched.

New Mexico State returns home for a showdown with Tarleton State at the NM State Tennis Center in Las Cruces on Saturday, Feb. 24, for a 9 a.m. (MT) battle. All tennis events are free to the public.
