LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's tennis team took on New Mexico Military Institute at the NM State Tennis Center on Saturday. The Aggie squad took home a clean 7-0 sweep over the Broncos.
In doubles play
Rebecca Keijzerwaard and
Quinty Janssen took down their NMMI counterparts at No. 2 by a score of 6-2.
Lindsay Harlas and
Yadira Rubio then were knotted up at 6-6 before taking the tiebreaker to win the match 7-6 (4-0) to clinch the doubles point.
At No. 5, Helena Covlee cruised through her singles match 6-0, 6-0 to keep the momentum rolling.
Vanessa Valdez then did her part with taking her matches 6-0, 6-2 to put the Aggies ahead 3-0. Shortly after
Lindsay Harlas walked away with 6-3, 6-0 victories on No. 3.
NM State closed out singles play with
Yadira Rubio taking her sets in resounding fashion 6-0, 6-0, followed by
Rebecca Keijzerwaard winning 7-6, 6-4 over her opponent to complete the sweep for the Crimson & White.
New Mexico State women's tennis returns to action on Friday, March 2, against Wyoming at the NM State Tennis Center. Play begins at 9 a.m. MT.
