LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's tennis team was bested by the visiting Cowgirls of Wyoming Friday at the NM State Tennis Center.

The Aggies lost the doubles point to start the match, falling on courts No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, before
Rebecca Keijzerwaard and
Quinty Janssen were able to register a 6-2 victory over their counterparts on court No. 3, but Wyoming (3-4) had already claimed the point.

NM State (4-6) went down 2-0 after singles play began when
Vanessa Valdez was defeated at the top singles position 6-2, 6-2. The Cowgirls took a 3-0 advantage over the Aggies after Mika Genkova bested Keijzerwaard 6-2, 6-4. Wyoming clinched the match at No. 4 singles when Janssen was bested 6-4, 6-3.

Eli Arnaudova gave NM State its first point of the match shortly after when she defeated Myiah Scott 7-5, 6-2 before the Cowgirls added another point that was bookended by a 7-6, 6-2 win by
Yadira Rubio.

The Aggies take a quick trip up north Saturday, March 3, for a neutral match against Colorado at 2 p.m. (MT) in #Aggiequerque on the campus of the University of New Mexico before returning home for a 1 p.m. match against UT Arlington at home to close out the weekend on Sunday, March 4.
