LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State head women's soccer coach
Rob Baarts added a trio of players to his roster for the upcoming 2018 season.

The three players that signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Aggies are Sarah Trent, Kaitlyn May and Mia Montano. Trent hails from San Diego, Calif., while May is an Arizona product that is transferring in from Paradise Community College. Montano is a local product, hailing from Bernalillo, N.M.

High School: A four-year letter winner that led Maranatha Christian School to three Ocean League titles and four-straight California Interscholastic Federation San Diego Section Championship appearances…guided Eagles to a 38 wins during her scholastic career and 19 wins in league play…finished prep career with 146 goals and 22 assists for 314 points while seeing action in 67 games…her 146 goals is ranked second all-time in the CIF San Diego Section…was named the Ocean League Player of the Year for the second-consecutive season after posting 38 goals to go with five assists for 81 points as a junior…named First-Team All-Ocean League all four years at MCS…honored as the female athlete of the week on different occasions by Pomerado News, San Diego Union Tribune and Mighty 1090 AM…was a three-year letter winner in track as well…also a two-time San Diego All-Academic honoree and named to the honor roll all four years.

Personal: Daughter of Don and Mary Trent…has two older brother, Michael and Daniel, a younger brother, Ryan, and a younger sister, Grace…majoring in marketing.

"Sarah is a very athletic, fast player that will add depth to our attack," Baarts said. "She is a dynamic forward that is good in 1v1 situations, using her pace to stretch the backline, and scoring goals. We are excited about her upside, and know she will continue to grow in our program."

2017 (Paradise Valley CC): Spent her sophomore campaign at Paradise Valley Community College, starting in 11-of-13 games she saw action in…tallied three assists as a defender and helped the Pumas to a 13-8 record as well as a NJCAA Region I playoff berth…earned All-ACCAC Second-Team honors at season's end and was selected to play in the all-star game.

2016 (Arizona Christian): Started in 11-of-12 games with over 900 minutes of action as a freshman at Arizona Christian…dished out one assist as a defender.

High School: A four-year letter winner at Verrado High School…led the Vipers to the 2014 Arizona Girls State Championship her sophomore year, earning her Division II All-State Honorable Mention accolades… followed up with a semifinal appearance in the Arizona Interscholastic Association Division II Championship as a junior…helped guide VHS to three-straight league titles…earned all-conference accolades her sophomore and junior years…was also the team captain her senior year…was also a standout on the track for the Vipers, earning sprinter of the year honors as a senior and long-distance runner of the year as a freshman…member of the 4x400 team that finished fourth in the state championship her senior year…also a four-year academic honoree.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Tim and Maureen May…has an older brother Kyle…majoring in animal science.

"Kaitlyn is relentless outside back both defensively as well as offensively," remarked Baarts. "She gets up and down the sideline all game long. She is not only a great athlete who tackles fearlessly, she has great field awareness. We are extremely excited to add Kaitlyn to the Aggie family."

High School: Was a four-year letter winner in soccer, basketball and softball at Bernalillo High School before a season-ending ACL injury her senior year…was a captain all four years on the soccer team…Montano racked up the awards during her prep career-high, earning first-team all-district honors all-three years she played while taking home district defensive player of the year honors as a junior…was second in the nation in saves her sophomore (293) and junior (273) years…was a second-team all-district in basketball and softball her junior year while tallying first-team all-district distinctions as a second baseman her sophomore year…helped guide the Spartan softball team three-straight undefeated runs in district play (2015-17)…heavily involved at school, serving as class vice president, Honor Society Vice President and student council member…earned 11 academic pins and honor roll accolades all four years.

Personal: Daughter of Manuel and Carla Montano…has an older brother, Luke, and an older sister, Deanna…father Manuel played baseball at the University of New Mexico while her sister Deanna played softball at Highlands University…majoring in nursing.

"Mia grew up playing club soccer in Albuquerque," said Baarts. "Unfortunately for her, she tore her ACL during the recruiting cycle of her junior year. This allowed us to pick up such a solid keeper late. Mia is a good shot blocker and uses her feet very well. This will be a perfect fit for our style of play. Mia will be a great addition to our squad."
