LOOKING AT THE LOBOS
New Mexico enters Aggie Memorial on Saturday with a 1-1 overall record. The Lobos won their season opener, 62-30, at home against Incarnate Word before falling in week two to No. 5 Wisconsin, 45-14.

At this point in the season UNM has totaled 891 yards of total offense. The Lobos have spread the ball out offensively racking up 495 passing yards with seven scores and 396 yards on the ground and four rushing touchdowns. Tryone Owens leads the attack out of the backfield with 33 carries for 115 yards and two scores. The UNM receiving corps has seven players with multiple receptions and five have found the end zone so far this season.

On defense, New Mexico has allowed 37.5 points per game while giving up 1,134 yards of total offense with 661 coming on the ground and 473 through the air. The Lobo defense looks to create turnovers forcing four fumbles, while recovering two, and adding a pair of interceptions in two games this season. The defense is led by linebacker Alex Hart who has a team-high 17 tackles and Marcus Hayes adds 12 tackles with one for loss, a forced fumble and a recovery.

CHECKING THE NUMBERS
Here's a look at the numbers against in-state rival New Mexico entering the matchup:
- A win over the Lobos would be the sixth time in school history that NM State has won three-straight games over UNM (1911-13, 1922-24, 1935-37, 1965-69, 2009-11).
- A victory for NM State would mark the third-straight season that the Aggies record their first win of the year against UNM. The other four times in program history that has happened were 1987, 1988, 2002 and 2010.
- NM State is 19-30-2 all-time against UNM at home.
- The team has recorded its first home win of the season against UNM five times (1987, 1998, 2002, 2010 and 2016).

LAST TIME OUT
The New Mexico State football team took on 2017 NOVA Home Loans Arizona Bowl opponent Utah State at Maverik Stadium on Saturday night. A highly anticipated bowl rematch featured the opposition putting a lot of points on the board, most notably from the kicker position, on the way to NM State dropping the road contest, 60-13.

NM State was able to grab the lead on its second drive as quarterback Matt Romero orchestrated a great 10-play drive that spanned 75 yards and took 3:13 off the clock. The drive ended with Romero finding Johnathan Boone in the back corner of the end zone on an 18-yard touchdown pass to give the visitors a 7-6 advantage. A kick return touchdown on the next play for Utah State put the Aggies back down as the deficit grew before the clock hit zero.
