Â
"Our inter-squad meet is always a lot of fun and a great chance to race with some energy," said head coach
Rick Pratt. "Even though there's not a lot of pressure we still expect some great performances and our results will give us a good bench mark for where we are and how to prepare for the next three weeks of dual meets."
Â
The Aggies will compete against each other in 11 events including 1m diving, 200 Med relay, 500 Free, 200 Free, 100 Free, 50 Free, 200 IM, 100 Fly, 100 Back, 100 Breast, and 200 Free relay.
Â
Individual events are scored with five points for first place, three points for second place and one point for third place. Relay winners receive seven points while second earns zero.
Â
NM State returns 2017-18 100 Breast and 200 Breast Western Athletic Conference champion
Hanna McGowan and three of the four members of the 400 Medley relay WAC championship team in McGowan,
Alix Knagg and
Reagan Nentwich.
Â
"There are a lot of question marks because we're very early in our training phase and we've got a lot of new faces," Pratt added. "Either way, it's going to be exciting."
Â
New Mexico State women's swimming and diving opens the regular season when it hosts Liberty for a two-day meet starting Friday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m. with day two getting underway on Saturday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. As always, fans receive free entry to all meets at the Swimming and Diving Complex.
