Scouting the Vaqueros
UT Rio Grande Valley visits the Mesilla Valley in fifth place in the WAC with a 9-9 overall record and a 3-2 mark in conference play. The Vaqueros are coming off of a weekend split, losing 57-55 at home against Utah Valley on Jan. 17, and beating Seattle U 69-56 on Jan. 19, also at home.

Senior guards Idil Turk and Quynne Huggins are UTRGV's leading scorers at 10.2 points per game. Madison Northcutt averages 8.5 points per game while leading the Vaqueros in field goal percentage (.484) and rebounds (8.0).

As a squad, UTRGV is solid defensively as they rank second in the WAC in scoring defense, behind only NM State, allowing 61.9 points per game. Offensively, UT Rio Grande Valley ranks sixth in the conference at 62.4 points per game.

New Mexico State hosted Seattle U on Jan. 17, and Utah Valley on Jan. 19, in a pair of conference games at the Pan American Center. The Aggies dominated Seattle U 75-55 before beating the Wolverines, who were previously undefeated in conference play, 58-52.

Against the Redhawks, senior guard
Brooke Salas recorded her 10
th double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Dominique Mills scored a career-high 15 points while
Adenike Aderinto scored 11 to go with seven rebounds.

Salas then recorded her 11
th double-double in the win over UVU, scoring 15 points and pulling down 18 boards while dishing out six assists.
Gia Pack dropped eight assists to go with 10 points and five rebounds.
