LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's tennis team cruised to victory Sunday afternoon against Western New Mexico 4-0 at the NM State Tennis Center.

The Aggies (2-0) opened doubles action with an advantage since WNMU wasn't able to field a third team and easily won on courts one and two by a score of 6-4 on both courts to claim the doubles point.

With the Mustangs short a player, they forfeited the point on court No. 6 to put NM State ahead 2-0 before singles action even started.

Nicolas Buitrago recorded the match-clinching win when he defeated Niko Bar in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 on court No. 5. NM State was ahead on courts No. 1 and No. 3 when the match was halted after Buitrago clinched it.

New Mexico State wrapped up its opening weekend with a pair of wins before heading to Las Vegas this upcoming week for four matches, including one against the host UNLV. NM State will first take on the Rebels (Feb. 1) before facing UC Riverside and Weber State on Saturday, Feb. 2. The Aggies then conclude the tournament against Hawaii on Sunday, Feb. 3.
