TUCSON, Ariz. – The New Mexico State men's golf team wrapped up the first day of competition in the Arizona Intercollegiate at the Sewailo Golf Club on Monday. Through the first two rounds of play, the Aggies sit in 14
th with a team score of 574 (+6).
Individual play for NM State on day one was led by
Mike McGilton who shot a two-under, 71-69—140, to tie for 22
nd.
Niall Powell followed behind with a two-round scorecard of 71-73—144 (+2) that put the Aggie in a tie for 44
th. Powell and McGilton led the squad in total birdies on day one with 8 apiece.
Garrison Smith sits in a tie for 61
st after firing a 76-70—146 (+4).
Ryo Harada and
Cooper Donahue round out the NM State lineup in a tie for 67
th with each golfer shooting a 148 (+6) on the first day of tournament action.
Heading into the final day, No. 11 Arizona State sits atop the team leaderboard after shooting a 547 (-21), followed by host Arizona in second at 552 (-16) and No. 18 Texas A&M completes the top-three with a team total of 553 (-15).
