TUCSON, Ariz. – The New Mexico State men's golf team completed the two-day, 54-hole Arizona Intercollegiate on Tuesday. At the end of the three-round tournament, the Aggies posted a team scorecard of 287-286-293—866 (+14) to finish in 16
th.
Mike McGilton led the Aggie golfers with a two-day total of 71-68-74—213 (E) to tie for 36
th.
Niall Powell was one stroke behind shooting a 71-73-70—214 (+1) and finished in a tie for 42
nd. McGilton paced the NM State squad with 36 holes for par and Powell posted a team-leading 12 birdies at tournament's end.
Garrison Smith was third on the Aggie roster finishing in a tie for 57
th after firing a 76-70-72—218 (+5).
Ryo Harada shot a 72-76-77—225 (+12) to tie for 76
th and
Cooper Donahue rounded out the squad in 79
th with a scorecard of 73-75-78—226 (+13).
At the end of the two-day tournament, host Arizona took home first place with a team total of 815 (-37), followed by No. 11 in Arizona State in second at 818 (-34) and St. Mary's completed the top-three with a score of 831 (-21).
With the spring schedule underway, the New Mexico State men's golf team now gets set for the Pro Compression Invitational at the Farms Golf Course in San Diego, Calif. from Feb. 11-12.
