LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State track and field continues the indoor season with the New Mexico Collegiate Classic on Friday, Feb. 1. The two-day meet is set to take place at the Albuquerque Convention Center and is hosted by New Mexico.
 
NM State enters the weekend after posting impressive performances at the New Mexico Team Invitational. Brooke Wallace finished first in both of her races at the meet and in the 200m, she ran 24.56, which ranks tied for sixth in the Aggie records. She also helped the 4x400m relay squad, which also included Asjah Wallace, Lanie Whelpley, and Camira Haughton, clock in a time of 3:43.66, which is second in the NM State indoor record books. Both times rank first in the league. As a result of her outstanding performance, B. Wallace was named the Western Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week.
 
In the field events, Yemisi Oroyinyin posted a personal record when she took home first with a mark of 17.68m (58-0.25) in the weight throw. Keyarha Wilson claimed third in the high jump (1.66m, 5-5.25) while Hannah Smith took third in the triple jump (12.08m, 39-7.75)
 
The New Mexico Collegiate Classic begins with the women's high jump and the women's weight throw at 4 p.m. MT. Running events begin with the women's unseeded 400m at 5:15 p.m.  Saturday's events start at 10 a.m. with the women's shot put and the first running event of the day is the 60m hurdles at 10:15 a.m. Fans can follow along with the action at Liverunningresults.com.
