LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The NM State men's golf team is in sole possession of second place at seven-over-par 575 after two rounds of play at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate.
The Aggies are 11 strokes off the leader, Wichita State (565, -4), entering tomorrow's third and final round at NM State Golf Course.
Senior
Ryo Harada, playing as an individual, is in the mix for the individual title, as he sits alone in second place at three-under-par 139. He fired an opening-round score of six-under-par 65, matching the best round of his collegiate career, to begin the day.
Freshman
Aidan Thomas put together the strongest performance of the Aggie fivesome. He is tied for seventh at even-par 142, closing out his day with a one-under-par 70 in the second round.
Seven other Aggie competitors are in the top 25 after 36 holes. Freshman
Cole Grossl is in the top 10, tying for ninth at one-over-par 143 through two rounds of action.
Sophomore
Cameron Gambini is tied for 16th (145, +3), while senior
Tanvir Kahlon and freshman
Trey Diehl, playing as an individual, are tied for 18th at four-over-par 146. Freshman
Scott Rescigno, sophomore
Garrison Smith and senior
Niall Powell each tied for 21st (147, +5) to round out the group of Aggies who are among the leaderboard's top 25.
Freshmen
Tyler Diehl (148, +6) and
Steven Strasheim (154, +12) are both competing as individuals and sit tied for 29th and tied for 51st, respectively. Junior
Tyler Svendson, also playing as an individual, is in 57th place at 15-over-par 157.
The final day of action tees off at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow. Admission is once again open and free for all fans.
