LAST TIME OUT
New Mexico State began WAC play with a 2-0 record last week. Battling their opponents on the road, the Aggies topped Utah Valley 3-1 before sweeping Seattle U.
Against the Wolverines, Analyssa Acosta tallied a match-high 21 digs while Cat Kelly led NM State with 17 kills. In the victory over the Redhawks, Megan Hart notched 13 kills while hitting .765 and Savannah Davison posted three-service aces.
WHERE IN THE WAC
New Mexico State leads the conference in hitting percentage (.259), opponent hitting percentage (.095), and blocks (2.88). Nationally, the Crimson and White are second for opponent hitting percentage and ninth for blocks.
Hart ranks first in the league with a .417 hitting clip and the redshirt senior is also third in blocks (1.06). Julianna Salanoa places second in the WAC with 1.29 blocks and fourth while hitting a .323 for the season. Natalie Mikels is sixth in aces (0.33) and seventh for assists (5.83) while Davison ranks fourth in kills (3.25) and points (3.80).
In conference matches, the Aggies hold the top opponent hitting percentage (.068) and also rank second for blocks (2.71), digs (16.86), aces (1.43), and hitting percentage (.231). Individually, Salanoa comes in with the top hitting clip (.524) and second in blocks (1.29) while Hart is first in blocks (1.42) and 10th in hitting percentage (.308). Acosta comes in second for digs (5.14) while Mikels is seventh in assists (5.43). Davison ranks fourth in aces (0.43), fifth in points (3.93) and eighth in kills (3.29) against league opponents.
SCOUTING THE VAQUEROS
UT Rio Grande Valley comes into the match at 7-9 on the season with a 1-1 record in conference play. The Vaqueros swept SU before falling to UVU in a five-set thriller last weekend. As a team, UTRGV ranks fourth in the league with a .211 hitting percentage and 1.40 aces per set.
Individually, Barbara Silva is second in the conference with 3.57 kills per set while Debora Nazario sits in third for assists (9.05). Sarah Cruz (3.81) and Silva (3.78) rank and second and fifth, respectively, for points.
COMING UP: ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Aggies head to California Baptist for a weekday WAC match. The team faces the Lancers at Van Dyne Gym on Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. MT.
