LAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State track and field continues the indoor season with the Don Kirby Collegiate Elite Invitational on Friday, Feb. 8. The two-day meet is set to take place at the Albuquerque Convention Center and is hosted by New Mexico.

Taniya Mitchell recorded a mark of 18.77m (61-7) taking home first in the event while also rewriting the NM State record books. Mitchell previously threw 18.70m (61-4) on her fourth attempt, which also would have put the senior atop the record books, but she bested the mark on her final throw.
