LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's tennis team wrapped up its weekend of conference play at home with a 6-1 victory over Kansas City on Sunday at the NM State Tennis Center.

Enrique Asmar and
Louis Menard opened things up for NM State (12-8, 3-0 WAC) with a 6-1 win over Anil Patel and Hunter Clark on court No. 2. Not too long after,
Nicolas Buitrago and
Luis Flores clinched the doubles point for the Aggies with a 6-1 win at the No. 3 position.

Mauri Benitez gave the Crimson & White its first win in singles action and the 2-0 lead after taking down Clark on court No. 4 by score of 6-1, 6-1. The Roos (6-11, 1-2 WAC) picked up their one and only point on court No. 5 when Asmar was bested 6-1, 6-4. Menard then made it 3-1 in NM State's advantage when he defeated Ben Stride on court No. 2 6-2, 6-3.

Buitrago clinched the match for the Aggies later in the match with a 6-2. 6-2 victory against Anil Patel at the No. 6 position before
Martin Simecek rallied back to take the second set and win 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) in a tiebreaker.

Stijn de Haan had a tough battle against Diego Giraldo from Kansas City at the top singles position but was able to rally back and win in three sets 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.

NM State will get a week off before it heads to Seattle, Wash., for the final WAC Pod of the season. First up for the Aggies in the Pacific Northwest will be Grand Canyon (April 12), who is also 3-0 after the first weekend of action in conference play. NM State will then wrap things up in league play with host Seattle U (April 13).
