LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's tennis team wrapped up its home slate for the year with a 6-1 victory over NMMI Tuesday afternoon at the NM State Tennis Center as it honored
Enrique Asmar,
Mauri Benitez,
Stijn de Haan and
Alejandro Rosas Garcia.

Doubles action started with
Louis Menard and Asmar besting their counterparts 6-2 on court No. 2 before the Broncos took court No. 1 against Benitez and de Haan 6-2. However, the ever consistency of
Nicolas Buitrago and
Luis Flores guided NM State to the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at the No. 3 position.

Like the women's program, the men's team also honored their seniors in between doubles and singles Tuesday afternoon.

Buitrago gave New Mexico State (13-8) an early 2-0 lead after singles action began after he took down his opponent in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Menard picked up win No. 22 overall with a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Emanuel Mallya on court No. 2 before Asmar gave NM State the clinching point on court No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Benitez made it 5-0 in favor of the Aggies shortly thereafter with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Luis Zamorano at the No. 4 position. NMMI picked up its lone victory at the top singles position when de Haan was bested 6-3, 6-4 before
Martin Simecek finished things up with a 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-1) win on court No. 3.

The Aggies now hit the road to the Pacific Northwest to conclude WAC play in the second and final pod of the year hosted by Seattle U. NM State will take on Grand Canyon on Friday, April 12, for first place as both clubs head into the weekend 3-0 in conference action. NM State then takes host Seattle U on Saturday, April 13, before heading home to prepare for the WAC Tournament (April 26-28).
