BOISE, Idaho – The New Mexico State women's soccer team fell 4-0 on the road to Boise State on Friday night at the Boas Soccer Complex.

Dmitri Fong was tested in net early, but the redshirt junior responded with saves in the 9
th, 22
nd and 24
th minutes. Fong continued to play well as the half went on, making two more saves in the 24
th and 29
th minutes.

Then,
Alexa Barrera forced the Bronco backline into a turnover in the 35
th minute but her shot was deflected by a Boise State defender before being stopped by Sydney Smith. The Aggies had another golden opportunity in the 44
th minute when
Kyleigh Cox broke away from the Broncos defense. However, Smith was there to make a diving save and keep the game scoreless heading into the half. Fong recorded five saves in the half.

The second half started as a defensive battle with neither side registering a shot on a goal until a save from Fong in the 63
rd minute. Barrera then had a chance in the 68
th minute when she was able to rip a left-footed shot in the box, but Smith made a diving save that turned the match on its head. After Smith's save, the Broncos went on the counter attack with Raimee Sherle scoring the match's first goal, also in the 68
th minute.

That sequence seemed to spark the Boise State offense as it added goals in the 80
th, 82
nd and 86
th minutes for the final tally of 4-0.

The Aggies recorded eight shots with four on goal including two shots on goal from
Alexa Barrera. Fong wrapped up the match with a season-high eight saves while Smith stopped four shots.
