LUBBOCK, Texas - There were no season-opening jitters for the Aggies.

Junior Jess Dominguez earned a second-place finish in the 3000m with a time of 10:11.89, and senior Bristol O'Connor's new personal-best shot put of 13.40m (43-11.75) carried her to a top-five finish, as NM State track & field wrapped up its season-opening weekend at the Corky Classic in impressive fashion Saturday.

Dominguez finished .67 seconds shy of a first-place finish and only six seconds off of her personal best, starting her indoor season with a strong performance in the 3000m. O'Connor, meanwhile, crushed her previous personal best of 13.22m (43-4.5).

Her new mark ranks fifth best in program history.

The sprints squad shined behind blazing-fast efforts in the 60m dash from seniors Keosha Sanders and Lashira Tremble. Both came across the line at 7.48 seconds, a new personal best for Tremble, to win their respective prelim heats and tie for ninth overall.

Their time of 7.48 seconds in the 60m dash ranks as second best in school history. Sanders' time of 7.42, set at last year's WAC Indoor Championships, remains the top mark in the program record book.

The indoor season rolls on next Friday and Saturday. The Aggies will make their first of three regular season treks up to Albuquerque this coming weekend to compete in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational, hosted by New Mexico.
