Keyarha Wilson came .01m shy of matching her indoor career best in the high jump, hitting a mark of 1.70m to claim a fifth-place finish in the event Friday at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational.
Wilson's performance led the way for the NM State track & field team, which recorded four top-10 finishes as a team during the first day of the competition, hosted by New Mexico, inside the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Lanie Whelpley took sixth in the 400m dash with a time of 57.05, finishing .03 seconds off of her indoor personal best. Senior
Bristol O'Connor, meanwhile, earned a sixth-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 16.83m.

Alyssa Watkins also earned a top-10 finish in the weight throw. The native of Camp Verde, Ariz., recorded a mark of 15.87m.
The Aggies will now gear up for the second and final day of the competition, which is set to begin at 9 a.m. tomorrow.
