Van Horn Added to Aggie Coaching Staff

Brandon Van Horn joins NM State after playing four seasons in the San Francisco Giants organization.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Brandon Van Horn, a former San Francisco Giants draftee and minor leaguer, has joined the New Mexico State baseball program as a volunteer assistant coach.

Van Horn, who was selected by San Francisco in the 19th round of the 2016 MLB June Amateur Draft, spent four years in the Giants organization, reaching Triple-A - the highest level of play in Minor League Baseball - during the 2019 season. 

The slick-handed infielder slugged three home runs and drove in 34 runs across three levels (A+, AA and AAA) in 2019. Van Horn played in eight games while with the Sacramento River Cats (AAA), hitting .400 with a homer and two runs batted in.

He hit 17 home runs, drove in 118 runs and swiped 26 bases over the course of his four-year pro career. 

A native of Tujanga, Calif., Van Horn began his collegiate career at Riverside City College in 2012 before transferring to Dallas Baptist in 2014. He then transferred to The Master's College in Santa Clarita, Calif., where he hit .280 with 36 runs, 31 runs batted in, 21 extra-base hits, 11 home runs, a .567 slugging percentage, 17 walks and a .352 on-base percentage as a senior during the 2016 campaign.
