Zhu Inks NLI to Join Aggies Starting in 2021-22

Beijing, China, native is NM State's first signee for 2021-22

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - In an announcement made Tuesday by NM State head women's tennis coach Emily Wang, Mingfang Zhu has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Aggies beginning in the 2021-22 academic year.

Zhu is the first member of the Aggies' 2021-22 signing class and will head to Las Cruces after her prep career concludes this spring.

• While at Forest Trail Academy, Zhu has enjoyed an excellent career both at the institution and on various junior and tournament circuits.
• In 2018, Zhu appeared in the China National Junior Team Tournament and advanced to the quarterfinal round while taking part in both singles and doubles action.
• The following year she appeared in the first round of the 2019 Ilkley Open in the United Kingdom. While there, she captured the Open's women's championship.
• Most recently, Zhu took part in the 2020 China Tour Zhengzhou and made it to the quarterfinal round of doubles action.
• Zhu also competed in a provincial tournament in 2020 where she took home the title of team competition champion as well as girls' doubles champion.
