NM State's Rice to Miss Time Due to Injury

| By:

Redshirt junior guard suffered injury in game against Benedictine Mesa on Tuesday, Dec. 1

PHOENIX - In an announcement made Wednesday afternoon by NM State head men's basketball head coach Chris Jans, redshirt junior guard and Preseason Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year Jabari Rice is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks of the Aggies' 2020-21 season due to a foot injury.

"While it's disappointing we won't have Jabari on the court with us, we have faced adversity like this before," commented Jans. "Our team will continue to work as we always have in order to accomplish our goals. We wish Jabari a speedy recovery and know he will continue to provide leadership to our team in different ways."

At the time of his injury, Rice was leading the Aggies in minutes per game (31.5).

NM State is currently 2-0 in 2020-21 and is riding a 21-game winning streak which ranks as the second-lengthiest in the nation and is tied for the longest in program history. The next game on the Aggies' docket is for Saturday, Dec. 12, at Arizona, but plans are in the works to put additional non-conference contests on the team's schedule prior to its showdown at Arizona.
