PALM DESERT, Calif. - NM State men's golf
 freshman Trey Diehl has a shot at the individual title after a spectacular 18 holes of play Saturday at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.
The Farmington, N.M., native came in at a career-best two-under-par 70 in the second round and soared up the leaderboard into the top 25. Entering the day tied for 43
rd, he will head into tomorrow's action at Classic Club five shots off the lead in a tie for 23
rd at one-under 143 overall.
Sophomore 
Garrison Smith is tied for 84
th at 10-over 154. Both senior 
Tanvir Kahlon and freshman 
Aidan Thomas are tied for 94
th at 11-over 155.
Freshman 
Steven Strasheim is tied for 111
th at 16-over 160 to round out the Aggie fivesome.
NM State is in 18th at 28-over 604 as team. Auburn sits atop the team leaderboard at 13-under 563, while Oregon's Tom Gueant maintains his spot atop the individual leaderboard at six-under 138.
Sunday's final round goes off at 8 a.m. MT.
