LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State swimming and diving team wraps up its season at the Western Athletic Conference Championships from Feb. 26-29 at the CRWC Natatorium in Houston, Texas.
"It has been a wonderful season of coaching a group of ladies who are hard-working, kind and great team-mates," said
Rick Pratt. "They've made our staff's job easy and have battled through adversity to get to this point of the season. The work is done and they're ready to swim fast and dive great. This week is a time for them to celebrate their sacrifices and compete as a team. This year's meet should be interesting as many of the teams are improved as we are. We've got to take one swim, dive and session at a time and take advantage of every opportunity. If we can hold our energy over the eight sessions we'll have a chance to make this the best meet in Aggie History."
NM State was picked to finish third at the competition in a poll of the league's head coaches. Northern Arizona was picked to win its seventh-straight Western Athletic Conference championship with four first-place votes. California Baptist earned two first place votes of its own while the Aggies earned one.
Alix Knagg will look to defend her title in the 200 back. She finished first last season with a time of 1:57.88, over a second faster than the second place finisher.
Preliminary rounds from the WAC Championships can be streamed live on
Facebook Live starting at approximately 9:30 a.m. (MT) every day. Finals are set to broadcast live on the
