NAMPA, Idaho -
 The Aggies have a real shot at winning their first indoor title.
NM State took the Western Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships by storm Friday at the Ford Idaho Center, grabbing two significant event wins and advancing nearly more than a dozen competitors to tomorrow's finals.
Freshman
Dascha Robinson won the triple jump title by almost a full meter, and NM State's distance medley relay team of sophomore
Anisa Burciaga, freshman
Terice Steen, sophomore
Richelle Sandin and freshman
Maggie Gibbs pulled off a come-from-behind victory to snatch the title away from GCU.
The Aggies closed out the first day of competition in second place as a team, sitting only 12 points shy of first-place GCU headed into the second and final day of action at the WAC Indoor Championships.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM FRIDAY
Robinson's jaw-dropping performance in the triple jump began the day.Â
She blew past her previous personal-best and conference-leading mark of 12.39m with a tally of 12.69m to win the title. The freshman phenom finished .86m ahead of the next closest competitor (GCU's Chynna Simmons), and her new jump ranks second best in school history.
The Aggies' next title came from the DMR team. NM State's foursome clocked in at 12:15.76, which ranks third best in program history, and grabbed a down-to-the-wire victory over GCU (12:16.81) in the event.

Corinne Hanson and junior
Jess Dominguez helped the Aggies pick up points with strong efforts in the 5000m run finals. They took second and third, respectively, with Hanson turning in a new indoor personal best.
The NM State sprints and hurdles squad, meanwhile, put on a show in the track events.

Telecia Briscoe set a school record in the 60m hurdles, crossing the line in 8.40 second to qualify for tomorrow's finals. Three other Aggie competitors - senior

Tremble headlined the group of NM State qualifiers in the 200m dash. She, Wallace, Sanders and Brown will compete in tomorrow's final.

Lanie Whelpley, Steen, sophomore Daniesha Woodside each punched their ticket to the 400m dash finals. Wallace set a new personal record in the process and is primed to take home the title tomorrow.
UP NEXT
The second and final day of the championship meet opens up with combined events, starting with the 60m hurdles at 9 a.m. The pole vault goes off at 9:50 a.m., while the 1,000m race is scheduled to start at 12:15 p.m.
Additional field events get going at 10 a.m. Saturday, and running events are in full swing by 2 p.m. The 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, mile, 300m, 60m hurdles, 4x400 relay, high jump, pole vault, long jump and shot put finals are decided during the action-packed day.
The championship meet finishes with the awards ceremony, which is slated to commence at 5:45 p.m.
