LAS CRUCES, N.M.
-  For the first time in 454 days, the NM State soccer team will take the field on Friday night. Their opponent is the UTEP Miners, who they will square off against in an exhibition match at 7 p.m. at the University Field in El Paso, Texas. There will be no live stream for the game, but there are a limited number of tickets available. Fans can follow @NMStateWSOC on Twitter for live updates.

The Aggies are coming off a 4-12-2 2019 campaign, but head coach Rob Baarts will return four out of their top five scorers from the 2019 season and their leading goalkeeper.

The Aggies will be led by junior Corey Kizer. Kizer led the Aggies in both goals and points in 2019. Kizer recorded five goals on the year including a two-goal performance in the season finale against UTRGV and a game-winner against CSU Bakersfield.

Joining Kizer will be junior Shea O'Connor who scored four goals for the Aggies in 2019. O'Connor was a durable asset for the Aggies, as she started every game and recorded the third-most minutes on the team.

The Aggies will return their starting goalkeeper in redshirt-senior Dmitri Fong. Fong broke the school-record with 120 saves in her 2019 season. She allowed just 34 goals and had a save percentage of .779. Fong also logged the most minutes of any Aggie in 2019.

The Aggies will begin their official season on Sunday, Feb. 7 against Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz. The Aggies will then face UTEP again in El Paso on Thursday Feb. 11 before heading to Tucson, Ariz., on Saturday, Feb 13 to play Arizona. The Aggies will then begin an eight week round robin WAC schedule on Thursday, February 18 against Chicago State. The location for the match is still to be determined.
