LAS VEGAS - The doubles run of Harsha Challa and Lisa Zhu as well as the singles title try for Zhu came to a close Friday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on UNLV's campus as the NM State women's tennis team wrapped up their three-day competition at the ITA Mountain Regional.

DOUBLES
• Harsha Challa and Lisa Zhu made it all the way to the quarterfinal round of tandem action before bowing out of their quest for an ITA Mountain Regional doubles title. NM State's tandem started the day with an 8-4 victory over Denver's Taylor Melville and Andrea Burguete-Beltran to make their way to the quarterfinals.
• One of the final eight doubles pairing remaining in contention for a title, Challa and Zhu could not make it to the semifinal round as they dropped a narrow 8-6 decision to the Colorado State twosome of Sarka Richterova and Somer Dalla-Bona.
• Challa and Zhu concluded their run in the doubles bracket of the regional tournament with a 3-1 record. This week marked the first time Challa and Zhu paired together for doubles action.
• Chloe Gavino and Gavi Kalaga played in one of the 18 added doubles matches. In a WAC matchup, Gavino and Kalaga couldn't take out Dixie State's Juliana Honczaruk and Rachel Mellor, falling 6-4 to the Trailblazers' tandem.

SINGLES
• Zhu suffered the first singles loss of her collegiate career with a trip to the flight two semifinals at stake. Pitted against Colorado's Mila Stanojevic, Zhu found herself on the wrong end of a 7-5, 6-3 tally against the Pac-12 competitor. With the setback, Zhu drops to 6-1 in one-on-one play in the fall.
• Several NM State players took part in singles matches which were added Friday morning. Challa dropped a 6-4, 7-6 tilt with Northern Arizona's Sofia Markova.
• In another added singles match in flight one, Chloe Gavino found herself on the wrong end of a 6-2, 6-0 result against BYU's Emilee Astle.
• Flight two's extra singles matches featured a matchup between Gavi Kalaga and Weber State's Megan Lombardi. Kalaga fell 6-1, 6-4 to wrap up her run at the regional tournament.

COMING UP NEXT
• Next up for the Aggies is a trip north to Albuquerque, N.M., where NM State is set to take part in New Mexico's Lobo Halloween Classic. The three-day event begins Friday, Oct. 29 and wraps up on Sunday, Oct. 31.
