NM State Returns to Action at New Mexico Halloween Classic

THE FIRST SERVE
• For it second-to-last event of the fall season, the NM State women's tennis team remains in the Land of Enchantment to take part in the New Mexico Halloween Classic from Friday-Sunday at the Linda Estes Tennis Complex on the campus of New Mexico.
• NM State will be one of four teams taking part in the Lobos' classic. In addition to the Aggies, Colorado State, New Mexico and Northern Arizona will be sending competitors to the Duke City to compete.

ABOUT THE AGGIES
• Two weeks have passed since NM State competed in a fall event. The Aggies' last action came on Wednesday-Friday, Oct. 13-15 in Las Vegas, Nev., when they were one of 20 teams from around the region competing at the ITA Mountain Regional hosted by UNLV.
• Freshman Lisa Zhu has had an impressive start to her collegiate career. In singles action, the Beijing, China, product has gone 6-1 which includes a run to the singles quarterfinals at the ITA Mountain Regional.
• In doubles action, Zhu has teamed with both Harsha Challa and Chloe Gavino in order to produce more positive results. Zhu and Gavino won the doubles draw at the Aggie Invitational in September, going 3-0 at the event. Challa and Zhu, meanwhile, posted a 3-1 doubles record at the ITA Mountain Regional and advanced to the quarterfinal round at that event.
Melissa Cartis (3-1) and Gavino (3-3) each have three singles wins to their credit so far in the fall while Gavi Kalaga (2-3) and Challa (2-3) have two apiece.
• Kalaga and Miranda Bishard teamed up in doubles play at the Aggie Invitational back in September and put forth a 4-1 record at the event.

COMING UP NEXT
• For their final event of the fall season, the Aggies head to Florida where they are set to compete at the Stetson Invitational. The three-day event is currently set for Friday-Sunday, Nov. 5-7, at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center in DeLand, Fla.
