Day Two Results
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A trio of singles wins against in-state rival New Mexico highlighted the performances of the NM State women's tennis team Saturday on day two of the New Mexico Halloween Howl at the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.
DOUBLES
•
Harsha Challa and
Lisa Zhu recovered from their narrow loss Friday morning and posted a 6-4 triumph over Northern Arizona's duo of Elinor Beazley and Ava Neyestani
•
Miranda Bishard and
Chloe Gavino found themselves on the wrong end of a 6-3 decision against Northern Arizona's Gina Dittmann and Sofia Markova.
• In the Aggies' third doubles match of the day,
Melissa Cartis and another competitor suffered a 6-0 shutout loss to Colorado State's Lucia Natal and Tracy Guo.
SINGLES
• Facing off against their in-state rivals in one-on-one action, the Aggies picked up a trio of singles victories.
• Challa battled back after a slow start to claim a 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 triumph over the Lobos' Hsuan Huang.
• Zhu kept up her torrid start to the fall by scoring a 6-3, 6-4, victory over New Mexico's My Kageyama.
• Picking up her first singles win of the weekend was
Georgia Townsend who collected a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 victory over the Lobos' Sarah O'Connor.

Gavi Kalaga forced a third set in her one-on-one bout with the Lobos' Satoho Toriumi, but ultimately fell 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.
• Bishard suffered a 7-5, 6-4 loss to New Mexico's Allison Romero while Gavino got out to a fast start against Colorado State's Tracy Guo before dropping a 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 decision.
COMING UP NEXT
• NM State finishes its three-day competition at the New Mexico Halloween Howl Sunday. In a reversal of what has happened for the first two day of the event, doubles play will start the day as NM State will duke it out with New Mexico in tandem action beginning at 9:30 a.m. Singles action follows when NM State and Colorado State go toe-to-toe at 11:00 a.m.
