The New Mexico State women's basketball team signed Australian Leah Mackenzie on National Signing Day.

LAS CRUCES – The New Mexico State women's basketball team has added one for the 2022-23 season, head coach Brooke Atkinson announced Wednesday.

Coming to the Land of Enchantment from Harkaway, Melbourne, Australia, is 5-7 guard Leah Mackenzie. She is the daughter of Scott and Jacki Mackenzie.

"Leah is a flat-out hard-nosed competitor and a winner," Atkinson said. "She is a dynamic guard that can really score the ball at all three level and makes everyone around her better. She comes from one of the best high school programs in Australia, Box Hill Senior Secondary College. Box Hill has sent 14 kids to either DI or DII in the last four years and we are excited to add her to our program."

The Australian native graduated from Box Hill Senior Secondary College in 2021. She also competed in the Big V Youth Leauge for the Keilor Thunder. For Keilor, Mackenzie averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.06 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
