ST. GEORGE, UTAH –
Day one of a three day event on the campus of Dixie State saw the Aggies post solid finishes in 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle relay. With the day's top Aggie performance coming from Aimee Burton, the Aggies picked up a pair of top-five individual finishes at DSU Human Performance Pool.

END TO END
• With a time of 23.08 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, Burton turned in a runner-up finish in the seventh finals event of the evening. This marks the junior's fastest time of the season in the quickest race in the pool.
• Three other NM State swimmers also secured top-15 placements in the 50-yard free as Neza Kocijan (12th, 23.70), Airam Oliva-Aun (14th, 23.95) and Maude Boily Dufour (15th, 24.04) each looked strong.
• The quartet of Burton, Airam Oliva-Aun, Maude Boily-Dufour and Neza Kocijan then teammed up to place third in the 200-yard freestyle relay, posting a combined time of 1:32.59 in the opening event of the finals session.
• The Aggies other individual finisher that landed in fifth place or better was Lindsay Puhalski. Puhalski took fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.09 in a loaded field. Fellow Aggie Jordan Andrusak also performed well in the event as she turned in a time of 2:05.50 to place 12th in a field of 32 swimmers.

QUOTABLE | HEAD COACH RICK PRATT
"Strong first day with a bit of a mixed bag of results but overall great efforts and energy. We're attacking each session at a time which requires a lot of grit and despite running out of gas on the last relays we had some great splits and many strong swims today. Aimee Burton was tremendous with the second fastest 50 in program history, Katherine went her second fastest 500 tonight and Lindsay Puhalski was a great IM. We were better than this morning in many things and we've got to keep learning and get better each session. Tomorrow's going to be a long day of racing and we're excited for the opportunities."

COMING UP NEXT
• The Aggie swimmers will be back in the pool for day two prelims tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. The finals on the second day of competition at the Dixie State Invitational will ensue, starting at 5 p.m. Fans can catch all the action on the WAC Digital Network.
