LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The NM State Aggies (0-2) will head to Tucson, Ariz., for a Saturday evening match against the Arizona Wildcats (2-0). The game will begin at 5 p.m. at Mulcahy Soccer Stadium and will be streamed live on the Pac-12 Network.
Last Time Out
The Aggies had another strong defensive performance in the second half in a 3-1 loss to UTEP Thursday night. The Aggies did not allow a single goal in the final 45 minutes. Freshman
Megan Ormson got her first goal as an Aggie in the second half against the Miners on an assist from senior
Emma Smith. Junior
Makenna Gottschalk had another impressive performance at goalkeeper, as she recorded five saves on the night.
Scouting the Wildcats
Arizona comes into the matchup against the Aggies with a 2-0 record with wins against Grand Canyon (4-1) and UTEP (2-0). The Wildcats are led by senior Jill Aguilera who has scored three goals and assisted on one goal in two games. Junior Ava McCray and senior Jada Talley have also added goals for the Wildcats. Sophomore Hope Hisey will be the goalkeeper for the Wildcats. In two games, she has five saves and has only allowed one goal. The Wildcats have plenty of experience with five upperclassmen in the starting lineup.
The Series
Despite just being four hours from each other, Saturday will be the first time these two meet in the regular season.
