Aggies Come Up Short Against Arizona

| By:
Box Score TUCSON, Ariz. - A solid defensive effort would not be enough as the Aggies (0-3) fell to Arizona (3-0) in a 4-0 decision Saturday night at Mulcahy Stadium in Tucson, Ariz.

The Aggies did a good job of containing the Wildcats in the early minutes of the first half, but the Wildcats were able to score two quick goals in the 15th and 19th minutes. The Aggies would hold the Wildcats in check for the rest of the half. Offensively, the Aggies had three corner kicks in the first half but were unable to convert with freshman Megan Ormson recording the only shot for the Aggies.

In the second half, the two teams were scoreless in the first 15 minutes of the half but an unlucky bounce off of an Aggie's shin gave the Wildcats a goal in the 60th minute. Arizona would tack on one more goal in the 80th minute.

The Aggies would end the match with five corner kicks to match their season-high but were only to get off two shots in the match. Junior Makenna Gottschalk would tally three saves for the Aggies.

NM State will be back in action when they begin WAC play against Chicago State on Thursday, Feb. 18 and Saturday, Feb. 20. Due to state regulations, the Aggies will be unable to play at the Soccer Athletic Complex in Las Cruces. The location and time for the two matches against Chicago State are to be determined.
