COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Jason Bush blasted a solo home run, and Chris Jefferson made a strong start for the second-straight week, but Texas A&M managed to manufacture six of its seven runs in innings six through nine in NM State's 7-1 setback to the SEC Aggies Sunday afternoon from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
SCORING SUMMARY
B4 | The first walk issued by Jefferson in the game - and in his 2021 season - produced the game's first run. A two-out, five-pitch base-on-balls was followed up by a single by Ryan Targac to put runners on the corners. Logan Britt, Texas A&M's seven-hole hitter, gave the home team its first lead of the afternoon by ripping an RBI single to right which made matters 1-0.
T5 | Bush made sure Texas A&M's lead didn't last too long. On an 0-1 offering from Jonathan Childress, Bush bashed a solo shot to right. The backstop's first hit of his 2021 campaign knotted things up at one.
B6 | More walks turned into more runs for Texas A&M. A one-out, five-pitch walk issued to Targac by Jefferson turned into the go-ahead score. Targac moved to second on a wild pitch and raced home when Mikey Hoehner bounced an RBI single up the middle. Kalae Harrison generate another single from there, putting runners on the corners once again. Rorik Maltrud took the bump after that, but fired consecutive walks to Bryce Blaum and Will Frizzell to push A&M's lead to 3-1.
B7 | The second of two NM State errors allowed Texas A&M to pad its lead. Britt's one-out RBI single to right plated Trevor Werner who reached on a fielding error to lead off the frame.
B8 | Texas A&M broke things open in the eighth, pushing three runs across on two hits, two walks and a hit-by-pitch. Britt's two-out, two-run single capped off the three-run frame and accounted for the 7-1 final score.
