Townsend Joins Aggies' Ranks for 2021-22 and Beyond

Former Pacific player heads to Land of Enchantment

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - In an announcement made Thursday by NM State women's tennis head coach Emily Wang, junior Georgia Townsend has signed on to join the Aggies for the 2021-22 season and beyond.

• After three seasons as a competitor for Pacific in the West Coast Conference (WCC), Townsend is headed to the Land of Enchantment.
• Over the course of her inaugural collegiate campaign in 2017-18, Townsend constructed a 3-3 record in singles action which included a 2-2 showing in the spring season. She played exclusively in flights five and six and posted a 1-0 against WCC singles competitors.
• As a sophomore in 2019-20, Townsend put forth a record of 7-8 in Pacific's fall tournaments but did not compete in the spring due to injury. Townsend did also not compete for Pacific through its 2020-21 season.
• During her prep days in Australia, Townsend was ranked as the 18th-best player in her age group through the entire continent. A consistent prep performer, Townsend was a finalist for a multitude of open and junior tournament in her home country including the QLD WTA Future Stars Tournament.
• She collected a trio of Australian National Team titles as well as a Brisbane regional championship and a Queensland state crown in gymnastics.
