LAS CRUCES, N.M. - NM State head football coach Jerry Kill is continuing to assemble his coaching staff.
As announced Friday by Kill, Bobby McMillen has been selected as NM State's inside linebackers coach. It marks McMillen's first full-time role as a position coach at the collegiate level.
McMillen, like many of the members of Kill's coaching staff, comes to Las Cruces directly following a stint on TCU's coaching staff in Fort Worth, Texas. Through the 2021 season, McMillen served as a special teams analyst for the Horned Frogs with responsibilities ranging from formulating practice plans to evaluating recruits and creating scouting reports.
The former collegiate linebacker got his start at TCU as an offensive graduate assistant from March of 2020 until June of 2021. In that role, he worked primarily with the Horned Frogs' running backs while also assisting in the creation and completion of scouting reports for opposing special teams and defensive units.
A Naperville, Ill., native, McMillen suited up as a linebacker for Iowa State from 2015-19. Through his career, McMillen took part in 33 contests for the Cyclones and amassed 37 tackles, one sack and a pair of pass breakups. During McMillen's tenure in an Iowa State uniform, the Cyclones appeared in a trio of bowl games and defeated six top-25 teams. He graduated from Iowa State in 2019 with a degree in communications.
