Aggies Hope to Repeat Friday’s Performance Against Abilene Christian

NM State ranks third in the WAC following last night’s win

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State women's soccer is looking to comeback Sunday afternoon with another performance like they put up Friday night against Tarleton. 
 
This time, it will have to be against Abilene Christian, who like Tarleton, is also winless in conference play (0-2-2) thus far. 
 
KICKOFF 
Kickoff for is scheduled for Sunday October 2, at 7 p.m. from the NM State Soccer Complex on the beautiful campus of NM State. Fans who stick around will have an opportunity to get autographs from players.

  • Aggies scored a season high four goals for the second time this year. The last time they scored four goals was on September 9 against Nevada (4-0)
  • The Aggies also recorded a season high in shots (25) after tying their previous season high (21) last Sunday against Stephen F. Austin. 
  • Xitlaly Hernandez added two more assists to her season total giving her seven on the season and ten in her career. 
  • Sofia Beerworth scored her second goal of the season and of her career. 
  • Megan Ormson, Brook Shultz and Blakely Edgar all scored their first goals of the season last night. This was also Edgars first goal of her career. Ormson (7) and Shultz (2) both have goals to their career tally prior to last nights game. 
  • Aggies Defense only allowed three shots all night (two on goal). Their season low in shots allowed is two, which came against UTEP (9/1)
  • Makenna Gottschalk recorded two more saves brining her season total to 43
  • Twelve different Aggies took shots last night. 
  • Aggies recorded a season high in corners (13). 
BY THE NUMBERS
  • After Friday's match, the Aggies moved up two spots in the WAC standings to third place (eight points) just behind Utah Tech (ten points) and Southern Utah (ten points). 
  • NM State is top five in the conference for shots (165), points   (67), goals (21), assists (25), goals allowed (10), shutouts (5) and corner kicks (66). 
  • Xitlaly Hernandez now stands alone atop of the conference assist leader board after her two assist performance last night. She now has seven assists for the season. 
  • Loma McNeese is in a four-way tie for goals (5)

NEXT UP
The Aggies will have senior night next Friday at 7 p.m. for the final home game of the season. The matchup for that one will be Southern Utah, who is currently tied for first in the conference. Following that, the Aggies will hit the road for the remainder of the regular season, and then the WAC tournament in Seattle.
