HUNTSVILLE, Texas – NM State women's soccer made its way to Texas this weekend to face Sam Houston for a late season match up. The Aggies snuck away with the 1-0 victory thanks to another second half goal by the team's scoring leader, Loma McNeese (8).
Bianca Chacon (5) and Bella Garcia (1) both picked up assists on the McNeese score. For Garcia, this marks her first assist of the season and second of her career.
Both teams had plenty of scoring opportunity's combining for 26 total shots with 11 on goal. Regardless, the game remained scoreless until the 59-minute game winner by McNeese.

PERFORMANCES / STATS OF NOTE
- With the win, NM State moves to 8-4-3 overall and 5-2-2 in conference.
- The team also adds three points to their conference total bringing them to 17, which should keep them in second place in the WAC.
- With her eighth goal of the season, Loma McNeese moves into a tie with Layla Todd (2014) for the most goals scored in a single season in program history.
- McNeese also moves into eight place for most career goals by an Aggie in school history with her 11th career score passing Crystal Burns (10)(2009-2010).
- Bianca Chacon picks up her fifth assist of the season, which is good for second best on the team behind Xitlaly Hernandez (7).
- Bella Garcia records her fist assist of the season and second of her career.
- Makenna Gottschalk secured four saves en route to her eighth shutout of the season - fourth in the last five games. She now has 74 saves for the year and is slowly approaching her season high of 85 (Fall-2022).
- Four players played all 90 minutes (Landy Williams, Mya Hammack, Thalia Chaverria, Makenna Gottschalk)
- No cards were administered.
NEXT UP
The Aggies have a week off before they hit the road again for the final two regular season games in two weeks. After they close out the season at Grand Canyon and California Baptist, they will head to Seattle, Wash. for the WAC Tournament starting November 2.
