DENVER – Basketball schedules are officially beginning to take shape.
In a release sent out by the conference office on Monday morning, the Aggies' men's and women's basketball teams now know who they will be playing and where they will be playing during the upcoming WAC season.
Each institution in the WAC will play an equal nine league games at home and on the road (six home/away matchups, three home-only matchups and three away-only matchups).
After a historical 2021-22 season, NM State's men's program will look to defend its WAC regular season title and will do so with home and away matchups against Abilene Christian, California Baptist, Grand Canyon, Seattle U, Southern Utah and Stephen F. Austin.
Meanwhile, the Aggies' home-only portion of their 18-game conference schedule will see Sam Houston, UT Arlington and UT Rio Grande Valley each make the trip to Las Cruces, N.M. Additionally, new bench boss
Greg Heiar will lead the Aggies in a road-only schedule that includes visits to Tarleton, Utah Tech and Utah Valley.
On the women's side, Head Coach
Jody Adams-Birch and her squad will challenge the WAC with home and away meetings with California Baptist, Grand Canyon, Sam Houston, Seattle U, Southern Utah and Utah Tech.
NM State will also face off against Abilene Christian, Tarleton and UT Arlington in home-only contests. Lastly, the Aggies will make trips to Stephen F. Austin, UT Rio Grande Valley and Utah Tech – making up the road-only chunk of games in 2022-23.
These games are listed in no particular order as the conference office is still working to lock in dates and start times for the upcoming schedule and the final schedule will be released at a later date.
