Aggies Tripped Up by Roadrunners at Home

NM State returns to the NM State Tennis Center on Feb. 11.

Box Score LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Aggies (1-3) returned to the NM State Tennis Complex as they hosted UT San Antonio (2-2). The Roadrunners were able to earn the edge – defeating the Aggies 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.

"UTSA is always a very tough opponent," said Head Coach Emily Wang. "We have improved a lot in doubles and it was big for us to win the doubles point. I am confident that the tough matches we have scheduled prior to conference play will be key for our success later in the season."

DOUBLES
  • The Aggies flexed their muscles early as Anna Pinaieva and Lisa Zhu tallied a 6-0 win over UTSA's Aleksandra Zlatarova and Alexandra Weir to secure the doubles point for the Aggies after Natsuki Nishimura and Dora Kurdi earned a win by default as UTSA traveled only five student-athletes.
  • The tandem of Miranda Bishard and Bella Nguyen also secured a win in doubles action as they bested Magda Tuells and Fatima Gutierrez by a score of 6-4.

SINGLES
  • The Aggies also started singles play with a 1-0 advantage as Bella Nguyen picked up a win by default on the No. 6 line.
  • Unfortunately, this would be the only singles point that the Aggies would earn as UTSA swept the remainder of singles matches to claim the match win.

UP NEXT
