Slee, Puhalski and Dobbins turn in top-five finishes on final two days

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Aggie swimmers concluded their weekend at the Hawkeye Invitational on Saturday as they swam in the final six events of the three-day meet. The Aggies ultimately finished sixth in the team standings with 348 points, however, they logged some good individual finishes.

On Friday, the Aggies competed in seven races and turned in four top-eight finishes, including a fourth place finish from Naomi Slee and a fifth-place result from Emily Dobbins. Slee's time of 1:49.33 earned her the fourth spot and represented the fastest 200 free time of any Aggie this season. Later, Emily Dobbins claimed fifth with a time of 55.58 with this time also marking a season-best for the Aggie squad.

NM State also put together a solid performance in the 800 free relay as the quartet of Lindsay Puhalski, Naomi Slee, Katie Rink, Dreamer Kowatch – finishing with a time of 7:25.65.

Saturday also resulted in another individual podium finish for the Aggies as Lindsay Puhalski posted a time of 1:59.67 in the 200 back to become the first Aggie this season to break the two-minute mark in the event this season. Meanwhile Emily Dobbins alos went sub-two minutes as she finished fourth with a time of 1:59.96.

Puhalski and Dobbins later teamed up with Katie Rink and Dreamer Kowatch to secure a third-place finish in the final event of the weekend – the 400 free relay. The team's time of 3:24.13 was also the fastest by any Aggie foursome this season.

HEAD COACH RICK PRATT
"This trip was an awesome experience for our team and is really going to set us up for something special moving forward. Tonight, during the last session our energy, focus and intensity was incredible and we owned the deck. The final score does not reflect how we competed against some great programs and I think we had many moments were we really stood out. The last relay with awesome and a lot of fun. We've still got much work to do, but this is a special group of proud Aggies."
