FIRST SERVE
• The Aggies return home for their final match of the regular season after a tough stretch on the road last weekend in which they were edged out by both Abilene Christian and Tarleton before falling to No. 42 Baylor.
• On Sunday, NM State will also honor seniors
Bella Nguyen and
Miranda Bishard during a Senior Day celebration.
• NM State will look to right the ship against the visiting Lopes of Grand Canyon before the WAC Tournament which is scheduled to begin on April 27 in Arlington, Texas.
• Despite last week's results, NM State has already secured its spot among the top eight in the WAC standings and thus earned a spot in the conference Tournament.
• This season, NM State has been dominant at home as they are a perfect 4-0 at the NM State Tennis Center against league opponents while posting a 9-3 overall home record.
• Keeping that streak alive will be a challenge on Sunday as they welcome a GCU team that they have only defeated once in five tries in Las Cruces.
• Entering its final match before postseason action, NM State has been led in singles play by freshman
Anna Pinaieva who has recorded a team-high 12 solo wins this season, all of which have come at the No. 1 position.
• This season, Pinaieva is one of three Aggies with 10 or more singles wins entering Sunday – joined by
Lisa Zhu and
Miranda Bishard who each have 11 wins to their names.
• Pinaieva and Bishard have also been two of the Aggies' best in WAC play as Pinaieva hoists a 6-1 conference record and Bishard is currently 5-2 against WAC opponents.
• In doubles action,
Bella Nguyen and
Miranda Bishard continue to serve as one of the best tandems in the WAC as they lead the Aggies with 11 victories, including a 6-1 record in WAC play.
• The play of doubles duo
Lisa Zhu and
Anna Pinaieva has also come on as of late with the pair combining for back-to-back wins against WAC opponents last weekend.
SCOUTING THE LOPES
The women of Grand Canyon have put together a record of 11-9 on the year and will enter Sunday's match with wins in three of its last four matches. Most recently, GCU pulled off a 6-1 road win over Abilene Christian. Individually, the Wildcats are led by Santa Strombacha who has posted an impressive 17-1 record at the No. 2 spot for the Lopes. Strombacha is also a member of the Lopes' top doubles team as she and Natasha Puehse have posted a 14-3 record this spring to represent the only GCU tandem with double-digit wins.

Following the conclusion of Sunday's match, NM State will prepare for the WAC Tournament hosted by UT Arlington at the UTA Tennis Center.
