NM State SAAC Honors Outstanding Student-Athletes at Annual Aggie Awards Ceremony

Over 300 student-athletes from all 16 Aggie programs attended the Aggie Awards on Monday night.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – On Monday evening, the New Mexico State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee held the annual Aggie Awards ceremony to honor outstanding student-athletes who have excelled in competition and in the community. The event, held at the Corbett Center Student Union on the New Mexico State University campus, brought together over 300 student-athletes from all 16 Aggie programs.
 
The awards ceremony featured a variety of categories, including Male and Female Athlete of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Comeback Aggie of the Year, and Academic Teams of the Year. This year, 18 student-athletes and five teams were recognized for their dedication and commitment to excellence during the 2022-23 academic year.


 
In addition to the awards ceremony, the evening included the introduction of the new SAAC leadership for the 2023-24 academic year. Mari Gallegos, a junior and member of the Aggies' cross country program, was announced as the incoming SAAC President. Hannah Draper, a member of the soccer team, was named vice president, while Blakley Edgar, also a member of the soccer team, will serve as the incoming secretary. 
 
Lance Christensen, a member of the men's golf team, was named treasurer, and Mya Hammack, a member of the soccer team, will serve as the group's social media representative. Finally, Izzy Cervantes, a member of the swimming and diving team, was named WAC liaison.
