LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Not only will the 2023-24 athletic season mark NM State's first year as a member of Conference USA, but it will also be the start of a new era for how to watch the Aggies from home.
This season, all Aggie home basketball and football games that are not produced by ESPN or CBS Sports Network will be produced in-house by AggieVision on ESPN+. Additionally, 50+ home games featuring Olympic Sports (women's basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball and baseball) will be produced by AggieVision and will air live on ESPN+.
AggieVision, founded in 2006, is New Mexico State University's in-house video team that has presented high-level productions for TV broadcasts of live athletic events. Largely student-operated, AggieVision has provided Aggie fans with the ability to view contests on Bally Sports Regional and Comcast New Mexico in years past.
This season, fans will be able to find all their favorite Aggie sporting events in one place as home games will no longer air on Linear TV, but instead, all in-house productions will be exclusive to ESPN+ as part of the Conference USA agreement with ESPN.
"We are excited to announce this new deal that was put in place thanks to our membership with Conference USA," stated Director of Athletics Mario Moccia. "New Mexico State University has a wide range of alumni and fans spanning across the country and having a one-stop-shop for all broadcasts will make it much easier for Aggie Nation to watch from anywhere they can access the internet."
The upcoming year will also mark the debut of Aggie women's soccer on ESPN+. The broadcast milestone comes on the heels of the program's greatest season in school history as NM State was crowned 2022 WAC Women's Soccer Tournament champions and earned its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Adam Young will be on the call for all broadcasted women's soccer matches and will be joined by former All-American Heidi Moccia who has been named the full-time analyst following a year in which she was the color analyst for select contests. Moccia also formerly served as the analyst for the El Paso Locomotive. As a player at UMass, Moccia was a four-year starter and helped lead her squad to the 1993 Final Four.
All play-by-play announcers and analysts for these events are hired by LEARFIELD and approved by NM State Athletics. Young returns as the TV play-by-play broadcaster for all sports while Danny Knee (football), Kelsi Meredith (volleyball), Patrick Knapp (women's basketball), Rus Bradburd (men's basketball) and Brian Cox (softball) return as analysts for their respective sports.
"Our in-house TV productions for Aggie home games have always been highly respected around the country and we're excited about the future with Conference USA and ESPN+," Director of Broadcasting Adam Young said. "The Conference USA streaming deal with ESPN+ allows us to air the home events that we produce in one spot, so Aggie fans won't have to go searching to find the game. Our production team and on-air talent will continue to deliver high-quality broadcasts to Aggie fans when they can't attend in person."
