LUBBOCK, Texas – For the first time since a group of seven student-athletes represented NM State at the NCAA West Regional, the Aggies returned to the track for their first indoor meet of the season, the Stan Scott Memorial hosted by Texas Tech. Several members made their debuts for the Crimson & White, while multiple personal records were bested.
Jhana Downie bested her 60m mark in both prelims (7.49) and the finals (7.48),
Jordan Torres captured gold and improved on her previous best in the 3000m 'B' race, and
Makiya Moore tallied a runner-up finish while posting a new personal record in the weight throw (18.02m).
The women's weight throw kicked off the day from the Sports Performance Complex on the campus of Texas Tech, and the Aggie program was well represented in the final.
Makiya Moore,
Rebecca Green,
Kamryn Cadle and
Miranda Tcheutchoua were among the nine student-athletes in the finals, more than any other school in the event.
Makiya Moore's toss of 18.04m (59-2.25") earned her the silver medal, while also moving her up the NM State Record Book – now seventh in program history. Second-year Aggie

Sweeping the 200m dash during the 2023 indoor and outdoor season,
Jhana Downie is no stranger to crossing the line ahead of the competition. Downie did that again as she won first place in the 200m, posting a time of 23.93.
Aliyah Logan (24.85) posted another personal best and took sixth place, while
Grace Pendarvis (24.86) finished in seventh.
