THE FIRST SERVE
• After fine-tuning their skills over four invitationals this past fall, the NM State women's tennis team will share the court with an opponent on Thursday as they host the Western New Mexico Mustangs.
• NM State was most recently in action at the UTEP Invitational in El Paso, Texas, from Nov. 3-5. There, the Aggies were able to win 14 matches across singles and doubles play during the three-day event.
• After competing against the Mustangs, NM State will remain at home to collide with Weber State and Tarleton on Friday and Saturday, respectively. After hosting thirteen matches last spring, Head Coach Emily Wang and her squad will compete at the NM State Tennis Center just seven times this season.
• NM State will look to continue its perfect record against Western New Mexico. The Aggies have won the previous eight matches against the Mustangs dating back to the 2011 season.
• After losing three players from last year's squad, NM State will lean on the quartet of Lisa Zhu, Valeriia Ivanovskaia, Anna Pinaieva and Natsuki Nishimura who combined for 41 wins.
• Sophomore Anna Pinaieva looks to build off her explosive freshman season after posting NM State's highest number of wins with a 14-9 record.
• Entering her junior season, Lisa Zhu will look to build off an exceptional sophomore year with 12 single wins. She also had an outstanding performance in doubles, winning nine matches alongside Pinaieva.
• The only senior on this year's squad, Natsuki Nishimura looks to go out on a high note following a five-win record in singles and a 4-2 record in doubles alongside Valeriia Ivanovskaia.

COMING UP NEXT
Next, NM State will begin a three-game road trip with a match against North Texas in Denton, Texas. First serve versus the Mean Green is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 1, at 1 p.m. MT.
