Aggies Drop Match in Denton

Pinaieva and Nishimura log singles wins in match versus North Texas.

Box Score DENTON, Texas – NM State began its road trip on Thursday afternoon as they took on North Texas at the Waranch Tennis Complex. Despite strong play in singles action, the Aggies ultimately fell to the Mean Green 5-2.

In doubles, the Aggies found success at No. 3 as Whitney Moon and Dora Kurdi combined to take down Marina Adati and Carolina Laydney – defeating the North Texas duo 6-3. Unfortunately, this would be the lone doubles match the Aggies would win as UNT earned a pair of wins to claim the doubles point.

Meanwhile, a pair of Aggies were able to secure wins in singles play as both Anna Pinaieva and Natsuki Nishimura bested their Mean Green counterparts. At No. 1, Pinaieva logged a hard-fought 6-1, 3-6, 7-6 win over Stanislava Shulzhenko. Elsewhere, Nishimura put together a commanding win over Olivia Halvorsen – winning 6-4, 6-1 to move to 2-1 on the season.
